So back before the Shark Tank craze happened to SwimZip I had come across them in a networking group that I’m in. I loved the owner Betsy’s story about why she started SwimZip. Betsy had been diagnosed with skin cancer at age 26. She decided to leave her corporate job and pursue this passion for sun protection swimwear.
So when I saw the actual swim line on their website I fell in LOVE! They aren’t plain-jane swim suits. They are really thought out and fashionable swimsuits with UPF 50+. I thought for sure they were going to be crazy expensive, too. Nope. I ordered Laney the Mint Chip suit, it was $29.99. That style is a full-arm style. I admit it, I am horrible at putting on sunscreen, on myself, on her, I knew this would make my life that much easier. Just have to cover her hands, face, and legs now. It wasn’t only the fact that it had the sun protection factor, but I had just signed up Laney for swim lessons at the Y, and the pool there is notoriously cold. It was really nice to have that full sleeve for those chilly Saturday mornings! The top of the zipper also has a nice little cover, so it doesn’t rub and irritate her neck. It is a really well made swimsuit, too, I’m not afraid it’s going to fall apart anytime soon. It has run pretty true to size, also. Laney is a tall-ish, skinny-ish baby and it was a little loose at first (she was 6m when we got it, in pool pic, and was wearing 3-6m jeans that were loose LOL) and now it fits nicely (9m now, beach pic), it’s a 6-12m size.
The swimsuits come in sizes from 0-3m all the way up to a child’s size 6. They also make suits for adults. I am just in love with all their styles. They are so cute! They also carry towels, sun hats, and UV cover ups.
